The conference is designed to help motivate and encourage Greenhands to
take advantage of the opportunities within the FFA. The conference
is scheduled for Saturday, October 2nd from 9:00am to 1:30pm at the
Versailles High School. The cost is $20.00 per member, and no official dress is
required. The $20.00 cost includes the program, donuts and juice, pizza for
lunch, and a Greenhand Conference t-shirt. The conference will feature sessions
by Bethany Starlin - Ohio’s National FFA Officer Candidate, Jake Zajkowski
- State FFA President, Morgan Anderson - State FFA Vice President, Mackenzie
Ott - State FFA Treasurer, Dawson Osborn - State Reporter, Faith Galavich -
State FFA Sentinel, Laura Wuebker - State FFA Vice-President at Large, Cassie
Mavis - State FFA Vice-President at Large, Branson Van Fleet - State FFA
Vice-President at Large, Brayden Huffman - State FFA Vice-President at Large
and Jared Dunn-State FFA Vice-President at Large. The conference will also
feature Dave Roever from Texas who is a Vietnam War Veteran and now shares his
inspiring story of how he overcame an explosion while at war. He will serve as
the opening speaker. Dave’s message inspires all to be hopeful in spite
of any troubles they might currently face. Dave will speak about his explosion,
the hardships he overcame, and lessons that his accident has taught him.
Instead of the Canned Food Drive this year we are going to conduct a Pie in the
Face Contest and the goal at the end of the conference is to give
State FFA President Jake Zajkowski and Ohio’s national Officer Candidate
Bethany Starlin a Pie in the Face by raising funds for the Roever
Foundation. Dave’s Foundation is designed to help build care units in
hospitals as well as give out scholarships to students attending both foreign
and domestic schools. To learn more about Dave’s Foundation visit https://roeverfoundation.org/about.php.
During registration and lunch Versailles FFA will take $1.00 donations from FFA
members to put a pie in Jake and Bethany’s faces at the conclusion of the
Greenhand Conference. Once a member donates $1.00 for a pie ticket their name
will be placed in that container for which one they would want to pie given the
opportunity, and one person will be drawn from each container to give the “Pie
in the Face.” Other sessions will focus on opportunities in FFA/Leadership,
Teamwork, Goal Setting, SAE Exploration, and Communication.
